Nature, history and adventure in Ogassa
The village of Surroca (Ogassa), located in the heart of the Ripollès region and surrounded by mountains and unique landscapes (the Taga, Sant Amand, and Puig Estela are well-known), was known for its mining operations from the late 17th century until 1967, when the last of the mines closed. You are standing in one of the town's quintessential historic mining buildings: this building and this premises were the workers' consumer cooperative for the miners who worked here. Commercial activities were also carried out here, and it also had a café and dance hall. Over the following years and up to the present day, this space has been managed by various people, offering services as a bar, shop, café, and more.
Today, you'll find traditional cuisine, the kind that simmers in pots for a while, craft beers of various styles, tapas and sandwiches for those who don't want to linger too long, and a small shop where you can find basic products and handicrafts from local producers. We're a small project that aims to be a meeting place for people who want to have a coffee or vermouth with a tapa, and at the same time a good place to eat and satisfy palates that seek and appreciate traditional cuisine. We're a simple and authentic project, run by a small team in a mountain village. For this reason, there will be days when you can savor everything La Surroquina has to offer, and there will be days when we've sold out of a stew or dessert, or you'll find good options off the menu... Thank you for your interest and understanding!
